Painting the Cover for The Alchemist of Aurillia Vol 1.
We've done the sketch, now it's time to paint!
Hey there cool kid,
Last time we talked about how I did about 80 million sketches for the cover of The Alchemist of Aurillia Volume 1 to get it just right. The effort paid off because we were left with a solid concept that we made into some nice blue lines, printed onto watercolor paper, and then inked over to give us our linework.
Normally, I use alcohol based Copic markers to make my colored illustrations, but I have been branching out to work with other mediums. Initially I thought I might take up oil painting, but I’ve been having so much ding dang fun with watercolors! I decided I wanted to do a watercolor painting for the cover of this book so that I could practice my skills and make something really special.
So lets see how we got there!
